Local authority leisure centres, sports clubs, schools, colleges, universities and gyms are good places to start.

If you want to take lessons, try calling your local education authority to ask for details of local coaches and classes. Find details of your local education authority here. They should be able to advise you of schools, colleges and clubs which offer badminton facilities.

If you are searching for a badminton club in your area, try looking in your local paper for details. If this fails, give Badminton England a call. The organisation has 41 county associations, which are made up of clubs which play in leagues. Badminton England governs over 2200 clubs and 100 leagues, so you should be able to find one near you. Where to play badminton in Wales

Apart from the aforementioned local sources, if you are struggling to find a badminton club or court to play on, try calling the Welsh Badminton Union (WBU) on 029 2022 2082. You can also email the WBU on wbu@welshbadminton.net, or visit the official website. The WBU is a very useful resource if you are interested in following the sport - the Union should be able to point you in the direction of a coach, badminton events and all the latest news.

Where to play badminton in Scotland

Again, local press and leisure centres are the best places to start a search in Scotland.

The national governing body for the sport in Scotland is called Badminton Scotland. The website is a very useful source of information and can also be contacted via phone on 0141 445 1218 or emailed at enquiries@badmintonscotland.org.uk.

Where to play badminton in Northern Ireland

Try contacting the Badminton Union of Ireland on 028 9038 1222. You can find further details of badminton clubs, coaches and events in your local area on the Sports Council for Northern Ireland website (also available by phone on 028 90 381222 or via email them at info@sportni.net.
